AIG Exploration Technology Conference

SGC participated in the AIG Exploration Technology Conference at the Burswood Convention Centre
in Perth on the 28-29 March, 2011. It drew 250 attendees from Australia and overseas.

The conference covered geophysics, drilling and downhole methods, mineral chemistry, data handling,
geochemistry, deep exploration and case studies.

Several SGC staff manned a booth and Graham Jenke presented a case study about magnetotellurics
in nickel exploration in South Australia.

Magnetic and Gravity 3D Inversion Workshop

In January 2011 SGC geophysicists hosted and participated in a two-day workshop delivered by John Paine
on the theory and application of Magnetic and Gravity 3D inversions.

John delivered a hands-on training session on how to use Windisp, 3D Modeller and MGINV3D software.
Full processing, from data QC to interpretation, was undertaken to demonstrate the software capabilities
and to ensure the geophysicists gained all the skills required.

The demonstration of this suite of software led SGC to purchase a new powerful computer dedicated to
running MGINV3D.

New Appointments

As SGC continues to grow we have introduced two new positions into our group,
being Operations Manager and Training Coordinator. We are pleased to announce
that both of these key roles have been filled by internal promotions.

Congratulations to Liz Pugsley who has been appointed our new Operations Manager.
Liz joined SGC in 1994 after she had completed her Bachelor of Applied Science at
Edith Cowan University and she has been the core of SGC’s IT and data processing
world for the last 7 years in the position of IT Manager. Liz brings a wealth of knowledge

IN-HOUSE IP-RESISITIVTY INVERSION WORKSHOP

SGC geophysicists have just completed a two-day training course on Geotomo’s resistivity and IP (induced polarisation) inversion software RES2DINV and RES3DINV. The workshop was held in-house and run by the software’s Malaysian developer Dr M. H. Loke. The course was received well and covered a wide range of topics from IP/resistivity and inversion theory through to survey design.
