IN-HOUSE IP-RESISITIVTY INVERSION WORKSHOP

SGC geophysicists have just completed a two-day training course on Geotomo’s resistivity and IP (induced polarisation) inversion software RES2DINV and RES3DINV. The workshop was held in-house and run by the software’s Malaysian developer Dr M. H. Loke. The course was received well and covered a wide range of topics from IP/resistivity and inversion theory through to survey design.

SGC uses the RES2DINV and RES3DINV packages extensively for its IP and resistivity inversion modelling in conjunction with its proprietary processing software (IPPROC). These software packages support all standard array types as well as non-conventional electrode arrangements providing fast inversion results.

Modern developments in field equipment design, interpretation software and microcomputer technology have seen 2D and 3D surveys now become practical geophysical exploration tools for geological, environmental and engineering studies.

This workshop forms part of SGC’s ongoing in-house training program.
