Processing & Imaging

SGC provides a complete data processing, imaging, GIS and interpretation capability, using an extensive range of commercial and in-house software. The processing capability is based on an integrated network of powerful PCs and state of the art ancillary equipment, including A0 inkjet plotters. All processed data, images, contours and interpretation plans can be provided in digital and GIS formats.

Data Processing

SGC's data processing system includes the INTREPID, ER MAPPER, GEOSOFT, ENVI, SURFER and GRAPHER packages, complemented by extensive SGC developed software. Capabilities include:

Imaging Services

SGC offers a state of the art image processing service, using proprietary and commercially available software including ER Mapper, INTREPID, Geosoft, Geopak and MicroBrian. The group has extensive experience in enhancement and imaging of airborne and ground geophysical data (eg. magnetics, radiometrics, gravity, EM, and digital terrain), multispectral scanner, radar, multispectral and panchromatic satellite data.

All images can be supplied as accurately scaled, located and annotated report quality output (paper, film or photographic) or in digital form (in Mapinfo or Arvciew format).

Interpretation Software

Interactive 2- or 3D modelling and analysis software for airborne (magnetics, radiometrics, EM), ground (eg. magnetics, gravity, EM, induced polarisation) and down hole (eg. EM, magnetics, IP, resistivity) data is used in the interpretation process. Automatic depth estimation/depth slicing routines are available for magnetics, gravity, IP and EM. These include Werner & Euler deconvolutions (magnetics), Spiker & Nekot (EM), 2D & 3D IP inversion & forward modelling, 3D Magnetic & gravity inversion.

Commercial Modelling and Interpretation packages include:

  • POTENT - Windows-based 2D and 3D forward and inversion modelling of magnetics and gravity
  • FILAMENT - Windows-based forward and inversion modelling of fixed loop and down-hole EM
  • MULTILOOP - Forward Modelling - Surface and Downhole EM
  • PCIP - Windows Based Forward 2D IP/Resistivity Modelling
  • MAXWELL - Windows Based - forward and inversion modelling of surface, downhole and airborne EM
  • WINDISP - Windows Based - presentation of model surfaces, drill holes, surface vectors in 3 dimensions. Linked to the UBC magnetic inversion package
  • PROFILE ANALYST - Windows Based - presentation of multi-channel geophysical datasets. Particularly useful for airborne EM
